Sophisticated Business Hairstyles For Women
The hairstyles I am about to discuss ooze elegance. I have searched and accumulated only the best examples that will help women in business have the necessary flair in the workplace. I am certain that these hairstyles will provide you with the confidence to achieve anything you want.
Let’s dive in.
Back Brushed Bob For Business Women Over 50
I am obsessed and love a head full of luscious silver hair styled properly to accentuate power. This short bob layered hair with a back brushed side part can get anyone on their knees.
I tried this out on my hair but it did not create the same effect that I wanted. But then I tried it on one of my clients over 50 for one of her important business events. And she looked breathtakingly striking!
The fact that my client loved the best is that all she will have to do is make a side part and back brush it while keeping it still with some setting spray and gel with a matte-Esque texture on the sides. Voila! She is ready to take on any challenge with this exquisite hair.
So, get styled up in your power.
Braid And Bun
I have a soft spot for bread and buns just as I have for this braid and bun hairstyle. It is mainly because I get easily bored with one hairstyle for too long. And this combination can provide as many variations as you want.
To create this updo, I take two strands from each side and twist them to tie a knot and keep adding to the knot till I reach the end. Then when I reach the nape I gently flip the knot and keep the remaining strands crossed while tying the entire bun tightly. Put the additional strands inside your bun to make your bun appear clean.
Among all the phenomenal variations, I especially like this twisted braid and bun. Because it provides volume to my hair while keeping it tidy and elegant with a boho vibe.
Blunt Bob
As I have had straight and long hair for years, I have always longed to get one of the blunt bobs to appear more sophisticated and in trend. Therefore, I just randomly cut all my hair one day for this haircut. And let me tell you I have never felt more liberated.
This haircut has allowed me to spend less time on my hair and focus more time on my work. It is easily styled and takes less time to get dried up without even using a blow dryer. This way my hair has been healthier. I only have to straighten it up before going to work and that’s it.
However, I do suggest you use a heat protectant on your hair before straightening it.
Pixie For Business
The ones who state that a pixie haircut is not feminine are so wrong. Because I have seen my female clients feel more empowered and in control with their pixie hair than longer ones. Of course, keeping your hair both long and healthy is a dream. But I have to admit it requires a lot of work and time.
This is why getting my hair as short as I want never scared me and I have cherished my pixie hair days. A pixie haircut can give you an immensely intimidating feminine aura. It allows you to make a strong effortless statement with versatile styling options. Hence, getting a pixie is never a loss.
Twisted Ponytail For Business
A dazzling way to bewitch everyone with your ponytail can be as simple as twisting it till the end and securing it. I assure you this devastatingly pretty hairdo will not take more than 15 minutes at best.
To make my twisted ponytail appear well kept I usually secure my low ponytail at the nape tightly. Then I take a strand to cover the band securing my pony and tuck it under. Afterwards, I just twist the rest of my hair till the end and secure it. To finish it off I apply setting spray to keep the twists in place.
I can say with confidence that this hairstyle will make you look drop-dead gorgeous even in your professional attire.
Ballet Bun For Business
As a child, I hated ballet buns for their slickness. However, now that I have grown up, I can not get enough of it. Especially when I get too lazy with my hair and forget to wash it properly. It’s an amazing solution to my laziness and protects my hair from heat.
Firstly, I put mousse all over my hair, as for this hairstyle the stickier your hair the better. Then I make a middle part and keep two strands on my face as I like the slick movement and face-framing of these strands. Then I simply put the rest of my hair in a band while keeping a few strands standing, making the bun look spikey and securing its shape with pins.
It’s elegant, charming, and super fab with a tad bit of a y2k vibe. Everything you want in a hairstyle these days is in this hairstyle.
Claw Clipped Bun
I have always been a fan of claw clips as they provide you with limitless possibilities for casual or professional styling. For a professional and chic look, I suggest you make a bun with your favorite claw clip. I prefer this one because it takes all the hair out of my face and back while creating enough movement to frame my face if I want.
When I create this look with longer hair then I simply take all my hair at the back and twist it. Then I place the claw clip over the twisted bun while keeping some strands on my face to create the perfect amount of movement I desire.
It is easy and less time-consuming. So get creative and trendy with your claw-clipped buns.
Mid-length Hair
Mid-length is the best length for business hairstyles for women in my opinion. I can keep it loose or tie it in a bun. Everything looks great and doable with this length.
However, in my experience, the best haircut for this length is the face-framing layer cut. I suggest this haircut for the ones who have thick hair and the ones with thin hair. If you have a thick texture then the layers will help remove the additional weight of the hair. The thin hair will look more voluminous with the textures of layers.
I hope you get to try one of the best haircuts at least once.
Side Braids For Business
Braids as bands are my favorite things in the world. For events, I usually make one braid with all my hair and make a crown. However, if I want to attend for business then I usually go for the low-key headbands with braids only on the side.
This looks both smart and graceful. For this hairdo, all you’ll have to do is make braids with the front portion of your hair and tuck it inside while keeping the rest of the hair let loose. This helps me from the bother of my bangs while keeping some volume at the back.
This hairstyle will give you the polished and refined look you desire in an instant.
Half-Up
There are times when I don’t feel like going to work. These times I focus on looking good a little bit more to cheer myself up. These days I create a half-updo with French or fishtail rather than a simple one.
This half-updo is a very easy one. All you’ll have to do is create two fishtail braids and tie them as one while keeping the rest of your hair loose.
You can curl your loose hair to give it an extra flair and jazz it up. However, I suggest you keep it simple for your workplace.
Cornrow For Business
Cornrows are a great protective low maintenance hairstyle. However, some people deem them to be unprofessional. I say to keep things customized, slick, and simple and any hairdo can turn into one of the classiest business hairstyles for women.
As you need to look well-kept and poised, I suggest you make one or two cornrows. You can turn them into a bun or a low ponytail at the back to make it look like you are down for some serious business.
I love cornrows as I can keep them tidy for six to eight weeks without going to the hassle of styling options. Now you can get it too.
Pinned Up For Business
Do you ever feel like you only have five minutes to spend on your hair but you’ve got to make a good impression on someone at work? Then this is the hairstyle for you. I think it looks best on boobs. However, you can work this out with long hair as well.
The key is to make one side slick with hair gel and pin it up with one type of coloured pin. You can set the pins asymmetrically or create symmetry. If you want to jazz it up, then you can use pins with pearls or just the metal ones. But as I have suggested before it is best to keep it simple.
I wear this hair on casual outings as well just using different types of pins.
Slick Bun For Business
If you feel your workplace environment doesn’t appreciate the ultra-modern sophisticated hairstyles, then this is the one for you.
This slick bun has helped me all the times I have felt too lazy or in a hurry to spend time on my hair. To create this bun, you have to use mousse, gel, and hair spray to keep everything neat. And just bun it up while tucking all the hair strands in your bun.
This slick bun can be your go-to hair in a red-carpet event as well. Because it will help accentuate your natural features.
Box Braids For Business
People do not tend to go for protective hairstyles. But I never understood the reason behind it. They are versatile and low maintenance. What’s not to like? Sure, some can get overly creative with their box braids. But with proper styling, they can look as elegant as usual business hairstyles.
If you have box braids all over your hair, then I suggest you put the front braids at a side creating bangs and keeping the hair out of sight. You can let loose the rest of the hair or tie them up in a bun.
But I think this is the best business look for box braids all over your hair.
Mid-Length Bob With Fringe
I think a mid-length bob with fringe gives you the best of both worlds, business and casual. I adore this one because whenever I get this cut my friend compliments me that I looked younger. And for me, this is the best compliment of all.
This convenient hairstyle is worn by women in every profession from businesswomen to celebs. It doesn’t require additional styling making you appear consistently perfect every morning.
It will give a defined sophisticated look. This hairstyle will not fail you in any setting or attire.
Space Bun
Space buns are a little risky for the workplace environment even if you can pull off the slickness. This hairstyle is for the ones who have super fun colleagues and offices like mine.
To create this look you can stick your baby hair strands on your forehead giving off a retro vibe. If you want to enhance your look then I suggest you do pigtails and twist them into buns. It will keep your buns more secure and sophisticated.
This juxtaposition of boho and retro vibe can make you look extraordinarily classy at official events as well. You can put little pearls on top of your baby hair strands to spice the whole look up.
Afro Bob
Women with afro hair tended to straighten them up to meet the societal standards of beauty. However, I feel very proud to see them accept their hair as it is and dazzle everyone with any haircut they desire.
I have to admit when I saw a friend slaying her afro bob it made me both proud and a little jealous as I can never possess the beauty of luscious curls on my head. I think an afro bob looks best in chin-length. But it can differ depending on the type of your curls.
I do hope women everywhere, including me, can get used to the usual beauty of their hair.
Retro Hairstyle For Business
Are you a diehard fan of retro aesthetics? Because I am. I love everything from retro to hairstyles to outfits to accessories. This one time I cut my hair too short but did not know how to style it in my favorite aesthetic. This is how I came across this hairstyle.
I can assure you that these finger waves are everything that you wanted in your retro life. They are easy to prepare and look stunning.
However, I have to remind you that it does require a lot of time and effort. So you might want to save this one for important meetings, or presentations only.
Chin-Length Bob With Fringe
I do my hair and makeup to feel good about myself or to get compliments from my female colleagues. Because they know how much effort I put into my look. Hence, a side-parted chin-length bob will make you feel like a star like the famous Korean actress Kim Seohyun.
You will feel like the girl crush at your workplace with an instant boost of confidence. I tried it out once and all my colleagues and friends and even strangers praised my hairstyle the entire day.
If you want face framing, then I suggest you get curtain bangs or your usual fringe. And turn it into a side part creating a lot of volume.
Buzz Cut For Business
There was an extremely busy phase in my life where I did not have even a single minute to waste on my hair. That’s when I got a buzz cut.
I have always had a thing for edgy aesthetics so it was perfect for me. It’s also classified as one of the highly adored business hairstyles for women by tasteful individuals who work at high-end workplaces.
There are different lengths for buzz cuts. But I think it should be at least number 3 to look workplace appropriate. Going too short might look a tad bit too edgy for business.
So get a buzz cut my queens and save time, energy, and effort and just slay.
FAQ
As a woman of business, I have always been careful and appropriately researched before making any decision especially if it’s about my hair. So I think everyone should also have the basic knowledge about how to keep their hairstyle stylish and business appropriate.
Let’s get into it, shall we?
Question: How should professional women wear their business hair?
Answer: I think the best way is to keep it simple, chic, and tidy. This way you’ll save time and energy while looking effortlessly cool.
Question: What makes a hairstyle unprofessional for women?
Answer: In my opinion, if you leave too much hair out of your hairdo then you might look too casual and unprofessional. For example, messy buns, extreme undercuts, pigtails, etc are fantastic for hanging out with your friends but not with your colleagues in the workplace. I think these will make you appear too edgy and the messiness might hinder your work.
Question: Is it unprofessional for women to wear your hair up to an interview?
Answer: No of course not. We are all for slick ponytails. But I feel like I should tell you not to wear it like Ariana Grande. Because you are going to work, not hold a concert in front of thousands. Wearing your pony mid-crown or at the nape of your neck will make you appear more professional.
Concluding Thoughts
I am all for bob and short haircuts when someone wants suggestions about business hairstyles for women. However, the length is not that important. The key is to look tidy and elegant.
I would not have suggested these hairstyles if it was for some other profession. Like if you are an artist I would tell you to go all out and dye all your hair pink. However as this is for businesswomen, I suggest you take an idea from the suggested hairstyles.
I hope you have picked out your favorite hairstyles from the ones I suggested. I assure you that you are going to look amazing in it. Just make sure to consult your hair stylist about which one would look on you according to your face shape and hair type.
No matter which hairstyle you choose, even if it’s a little risky, I suggest you do it scared and fake it till you make or appear it in this case.
